Most of us look forward to the year-end because that is when everyone starts winding down for the festive season and families go on vacations. The wait for December to come, however, always seem too long and we all deserve to break away from our daily routines now and then to recharge.
Well, the good news is there are many activities all year round in Singapore that can help you can look forward to, and here are five family-friendly activities you can participate from April to June 2017 that are healthy for the body, calming for the soul, and inspiring for the mind.
Besides enabling people to keep in shape and improve their health, taking part in physical activities also allows them to spend quality time with loved ones, partake in activities they enjoy and take a break from the stresses of work.
To better enable longer, healthier and better lives, AIA Singapore is the proud sponsor of two quality fitness events – The Music Run and Fitness Fest – aimed at bringing more people together to get active this May.
If you had passionately written “Exercise at least once a week” on your 2017 New Year Resolution, but somehow had never gotten down to it, the Music Run is for you. The next stop in its global tour, after Thailand and Johannesburg, is Singapore.
Dubbed the world’s loudest run, there will be over 120 speakers lined along the 5km course in Sentosa. What’s better - you get to choose the music they blast by voting for it beforehand. There will be 5 music zones, each with a different theme and playlist so you will hardly feel bored during the run.
Parents can also bring their children (5 or under) for free to the event for a day of family fun and bonding.
If you think running is all to the event, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. You can look forward to some raving and partying after the fulfilling run with its ultimate after-run music festival including world class DJs, live bands, dancers, fireworks and giveaways.
Date: 6 May 2017 (Saturday)
Time: 5pm
Venue: Sentosa Island
Working out alone can be a tiring and uninspiring process. Fitness Fest is where you can meet other health enthusiasts, keep yourself motivated and find a new exercise routine to add some diversity to your workouts.

Getting a day pass allows you to participate in mass workouts, access healthy living workshops and receive a goodie bag with interesting fitness products. Bring your children along for the Kids Yoga and Smarty Pilates. Afterall, healthy living is a habit cultivated from young.
The fest will also see an array of fitness and health products on display to add variety and fun to your fitness regime.

If there’s one thing Singaporeans love more than food, it’s queuing for food, from a famous or new eatery. What better way to enjoy a day out with friends and/or family trying an interesting or new cuisine together. As the saying goes, a family that eats together stays together.
Foodies are bound to be intrigued by this one-of-its-kind annual event started in 2012. It has gained a large following over the years by bringing in Michelin-starred chefs to prepare delicacies alongside our local chefs. Part one of the three part Savour Food Festival is the Savour Gourmet this coming May.
Look forward to sampling the Over-baked Sicilian Red Prawns, Foie-ffle (Corn Waffle with Foie Gras Butter, Orange Blossom, Golden Syrup) and the Siew Yoke Umami Rice. Another must-get is the fairytale purple Lavender Soft Serve.
Apart from the great food, you also get to meet celebrity chefs such as the “The Demon Chef” Alvin Leung from Hong Kong’s Bo Innovation and Chef Pang Kok Keong from Antionette (famous for his matcha lava croissant). You can also bring home some of the gourmet food from the renowned Jasons Gourmet Market as well.
If you’re worried that this sounds like an unaffordable or luxurious experience, fret not! Unlike in previous years, entrance is free. You only pay for the dishes you want to try, priced reasonably between $6 and $12 each (bearing in mind who are cooking them for you).

Music has an inexplicable impact on people’s lives. Although hard to scientifically quantify, many research and hypotheses repeatedly point to its ability to influence cognitive functions in unborn children, young children and even the elderly. Depending on the type of music, it can also have both calming effects on people or stimulate strong emotions.
Looking for music that appeals to everyone in the family? Piano might be the answer. The 24th Singapore International Piano Festival presents Fantasies & Memories, a concert that brings together the best piano pieces for a calming evening.
Look forward to hearing from four internationally renowned virtuoso pianists, Joseph Moog, Wong Chiyan, Hüseyin Sermet and Stephen Kovacevich, as they interpret every piece with their own imagination and reinvent traditional works.
At only S$10 for Students, Senior Citizens (55 yrs old & above) and NSFs, it will provide an inexpensive way for families and many groups of people to appreciate music. Note, however, that children below 6 years old are not allowed to enter.
Dates: 1 – 4 June 2017 (Thu – Sun)
Time: 1-4 June: 7.30pm; 4 June: 4pm & 7.30pm
