Singapore has always been a leading travel destination attracting millions of visitors from near and far. For those of us living and working here, it is definitely a privilege to have access to a diverse range of interesting attractions to visit.
When planning a family outing, you always need to include extra considerations if you have family members with special needs, such as young children, wheelchair-users or elderly. Due to this, accessibility becomes a top criterion when selecting an attraction for the entire family to enjoy, in addition to having to consider fun factor and appeal to family members across generations.
To help you shortlist potential attractions in Singapore, we highlight five family-friendly attractions that promises to be a whole lot of enjoyment for everyone in the family!
Before delving into the attractions, it’s important to consider the logistics of getting everyone to the location. Singapore’s MRT network is fully wheelchair-accessible. For greater ease and convenience, choose an attraction that’s situated close to an MRT stop.
The attractions on this list are within walking distance to an MRT station, with the exception of S.E.A Aquarium, which requires a transfer to the wheelchair-accessible monorail.
-If public transport isn’t the way to go for you and your family, there is always taxis and private-hire services making it easier for you to get from place to place!
Towering at 165 metres tall, the Singapore Flyer is a marvel – both when you look at it from the outside and when you’re inside looking out.
The 30-minute ride provides panoramic views of the iconic Singapore skyline. On clear days, you can even see beyond Singapore’s shores to neighbouring islands.
A nice benefit of going on the flyer is that your entire family can soak in the experience together. There is also no need to worry that the kids will run off, or that older family members may struggle to keep up. It’s the perfect opportunity to chat as a family and take plenty of photos together.
Each capsule is spacious, outfitted with ample seating and standing areas, and can fit up to five wheelchairs.
