Corporate Social Responsibility
AIA is uncompromising in our commitment to educate and protect families across multiple generations – parents, grandparents and their grandchildren. This pledge is intrinsic to the way we conduct our business and develop our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.
Through our corporate social responsibility efforts, including our staff volunteerism programs, AIA aims to reinforce our commitment to bring our brand values behind “The Power of We” to the communities where we operate.
At AIA Singapore, we contribute to charities and community causes to improve the lives of the less fortunate and underprivileged. We also encourage our staff to take an active part in fundraising activities and events. To recognise their contribution, staff volunteers are given three days or two hours per month of paid volunteer leave each year, which provides them with a great opportunity to contribute to the community.
Run for Hope
AIA Singapore staff participated in the Run for Hope, an annual charity drive by the National Cancer Centre Singapore, to raise funds for cancer research. Championing the cause was Ezzy Wang, AIA’s very own hero and cancer survivor, who has been participating in the marathon since 2002.
Our support for charitable causes goes beyond monetary contributions. AIA Singapore and our staff offer our time and ability to organise effective fundraising programmes for our community partners.
Boys' Brigade Sharity Gift Box
Christmas is a time of giving and every year, AIA Singapore works hand-in-hand with the Boys' Brigade to share the festive joy by granting the wishes of children, elderly and families in need, in partnership with various beneficiaries. Our partnership entered its’ seventh year in 2010, as we marked AIA’s 80th anniversary in Singapore.
Celebrating 80 years in Singapore
As AIA kick-starts our next 80 years in Singapore, we remain committed to creating value for the community and protecting Singaporeans across all generations. 2011 will see us focus on the generation ahead as we look to helping and nurturing youth – our leaders of tomorrow.
These initiatives include:
Refurbishment of the children's TV room at the Melrose Home (December 2010)
This meaningful experience saw approximately 30 AIA Singapore employees getting their hands dirty to clean, refurbish and redecorate the TV room at the Melrose Home in time for the Christmas holidays in 2010. Painted murals, curtains, new tables and chairs were a welcome sight for the children who enjoyed a festive Christmas Party after the refurbishment was completed. Both AIA Singapore volunteers and the children delighted in a sumptuous Christmas spread, treats and gifts, with Santa and Santarina spreading the Christmas spirit with gifts and balloons for all.
AIA Drive With a Heart in support of the Pertapis Home (February 2011)
An initiative borne out of the sheer passion of AIA’s Financial Services Consultants (FSCs) and staff, the AIA Drive With a Heart celebrated AIA’s 80th anniversary in Singapore by bringing joy to children at the Pertapis Children’s Home. An 80-car rally took to the roads of Singapore in search of gifts and groceries to complete the children’s wish-list for a better year in 2011.
