Supplementary Retirement Scheme (SRS)

Is an insurance agent's commission considered as Ordinary Wages (OW) or Self-Employed Income (SEI)?

Self-Employed Income. Therefore a part-time agent with a full-time job elsewhere will have OW from his/her full-time job, & SEI from his/her sales commissions. However, if a sales executive receives basic pay, and commission as an incentive to meet his/her sales quota (on top of his/her basic pay), then his/her basic pay will be OW, and the commission will be considered as Additional Wages (AW).
