Personal Accident Insurance

What are the main benefits of PA policies?

PA plans provide three primary benefits:

  • Full insured amount for accidental death
PA policies pay the full insured amount in cash to the insured's dependants in the event that the insured dies in an accident. Although money will not change the course of events nor remove the emotional pain, it will help to relieve the family's financial commitments like hospital bills and mortgage payments. It can also help to stabilise their finances for a few years until they get back on their feet.

  • Percentage of insured amount for serious disabilities
This is designed to compensate the insured for serious disabilities, such as the loss of sight or use of hand. It pays a percentage of the insured amount. In general, the more important body part and the more severe the loss, the larger the cash compensation.

The extent of coverage also varies for different plans and different companies.

  • Reimbursement for medical expenses
This replaces whatever cost the policyholder had incurred while seeking medical treatment up to the amount of insurance purchased.
