Q. What does AIA HealthShield Gold Essential provide?
AIA HealthShield Gold Essential provides cover for the deductible and co-insurance portions of your AIA HealthShield Gold Plan A claims.

Q. How do the deductible and co-insurance work?
The deductible is the portion of costs you are liable for before any benefits are payable and is applied to the claimable amount, not the total bill amount. The claimable amount is calculated based on the schedule of benefit limits for AIA HealthShield Gold Plan A and Plan B.

The deductible applies on a policy year basis. Once the total claimable amount for claims arising within the same policy year exceeds the deductible, the deductible will not apply to further claims arising within the same policy year. No deductible is applied for outpatient claims.

Co-insurance is the fixed percentage you are liable for in excess of the deductible and is applied to both inpatient and outpatient claims. For AIA HealthShield Gold Plan A and Plan B, the co-insurance is 10%.

Q. How do I pay my premium for AIA HealthShield Gold Essential ?
You can pay your premium by cash or by cheque.

Q. What other plans complement AIA HealthShield Gold Essential ?
AIA HealthShield Gold Essential is designed to enhance AIA HealthShield Gold Plan A, and together with AIA Pink of Health, provides you with comprehensive medical health coverage.

Q. Can I apply for AIA HealthShield Gold Essential if I have AIA HealthShield Gold Plan B ?
AIA HealthShield Gold Essential is only designed for those with AIA HealthShield Gold Plan A. If you currently have AIA HealthShield Gold Plan B, you may wish to consider upgrading to AIA HealthShield Gold Plan A.
